History
OSE was established with capital from Dr. Eugene C.Y. Duh and other like-minded individuals. OSE entrepreneurial management spirit is built on close adherence to its core values. That commitment is expressed in its corporate motto "sincerity and honesty at all items". These principles consistently manifest themselves in OSE's relationship with its customers, employees, shareholders and community.
Corporate Positioning
OSE consists of two business groups, the Finished Products Group and the Semiconductor Group. The former is the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS/CEM) provider, and the latter the IC packaging and testing services provider. OSE is committed to providing a variety of high value-added electronics manufacturing services and establishing long-term partnerships with clients.
Timeline of Events
| Jun 1971 | OSE is officially established with NT$11 million of capital. Mr. Hung Min-hung serves as Chairman, and Dr. Eugene C.Y. Duh as President. |
| Mar 1990 | The Finished Products Group completes its new production facility and begins production |
| Jan 1992 | Ms. Yang Mei-shou is elected Chairman by the board of Directors and Supervisors. |
| May 1992 | The Semiconductor Group is awarded ISO-9002 quality assurance certification. |
| Apr 1993 | Dr. Eugene C.Y. Duh steps down from post of president and the board of directors approves Calvin Lee as the replacement. |
| Apr 1993 | The Finished Products Group is awarded ISO-9002 quality assurance certification. |
| Apr 1994 | OSE is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on April 20th under Category I common stock. |
| Jul 1994 | OSE signs a tape carrier package (TCP) assembly technology transfer agreement with Intel. |
| Jun 1998 | The Finished Products Group is awarded ISO-14001 certification. |
| Oct 1998 | The Semiconductor Group is awarded ISO-14001 certification. |
| Oct 1998 | The Finished Products Group is the winner of "Dependability / Timely Delivery" and "Responsiveness" for Service Excellence Awards in a competition cosponsored by the world's leading EMS magazine Circuits Assembly and a renowned market research firm, Technology Forecasters. OSE is the only Asian firm to win awards at this event. |
| Apr 1999 | Enterprise Resources Planning System: SAP R/3 system goes on line. |
| May 1999 | OSE acquires IC packaging firm, Integrated Packaging Assembly Corporation (IPAC) in USA. |
| Jun 1999 | The Philippines factory of Semiconductor Group (OSE Philippines) begins mass production. |
| Jul 1999 | OSE invests in and opens an electronics manufacturing services company, Sparqtron Corporation, in Fremont, California. |
| Sep 1999 | OSE gets ready for Y2K issues, including information system, non-IT system, supply chain management, and contingency plans. |
| Mar 2000 | The Finished Products Group is the recipient of Service Excellence Awards for "Manufacturing Quality" in a competition co-sponsored by the world's leading EMS magazine, Circuits Assembly, and a prominent market research firm, Technology Forecasters, Inc. Besides, Sparqtron Corporation is the recipient of Service Excellence Awards for "Responsiveness". OSE is the only Asian firm to receive awards at the event. |
| May 2000 | Construction of the Packaging and Testing building commences in Kaohsiung. |
| Jun 2000 | Construction of the corporate headquarters building is completed. |
| Jul 2000 | Both Groups start production in the new headquarters building. |
| Mar 2001 | General administration moves to the new headquarters building. |
| Mar 2001 | The Finished Products Group is again the recipient of 2001 Service Excellence Award for "Manufacturing Quality", "Responsiveness" and "Dependability / Timely Delivery." in addition, Sparqtron Corporation is the recipient of Excellence Awards for "Manufacturing Quality," "Responsiveness", "Dependability / Timely Delivery", and "Best Price and Service Value". |
| Jan 2002 | The Finished Products Group received the "Highest Overall Customer Rating" of 2002 Service Excellence Award for EMS sponsored by Circuits Assembly Magazine and Technology Forecasters, Inc. |
| Jun 2002 | The Finished Products Group is certified for ISO9001:2000 and TL9000. |
| Jul 2002 | Edward S. Duh appointed president of OSE, replacing Calvin Lee. |
| Jan 2003 | OSE issues NT$1.5 billion in stock at a discount of NT$5.0 per share. |
| Feb 2003 | Dr. Eugene C.Y. Duh appointed chairman of OSE, replacing Yang Mei-shou. |
| Jul 2004 | The Finished Products Group is certified for QS9000. |
| Dec 2005 | OSE is awarded ISO-14001 certification. |
| May 2007 | OSE launches a private placement for NT$1.8 billion, at NT$9.2 per share. |
| Dec 2007 | The Semiconductor Group is awarded TS16949 certification. |
| Jun 2008 | OSE undergoes a capital restructure to reduce stock capital by NT$4.5 billion. |
| Dec 2008 | Construction of the Packaging and Testing building is complete. The Semiconductor Group commences operations and production in the new building. |
