Protecting the Ocean, Fulfilling Sustainability Commitments

According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), approximately 14 million tons of plastic waste enter the oceans each year, severely impacting marine habitats. To strengthen its sustainability commitment, OSE returned to Kaohsiung’s Yongan Diamond Beach for its annual beach cleanup event. Upholding the corporate spirit of “United as One,” the company rallied employees and their families to turn words into action, responding to global trends of reducing plastic and waste, and advancing SDG 14.1 to reduce marine pollution—embedding ocean protection into the daily lives of every OSE member.

Partnering with Local Communities for a Sustainable Future

This event was organized with the support of the Yongan Xingang Community Cooperative (Xingang Cooperative), a group deeply rooted in the Yongan area. Leveraging local natural resources and traditional fishing village wisdom, Xingang Cooperative has long promoted coastal conservation, industrial sustainability, and environmental education. It has pioneered an eco-friendly grouper farming model using cold discharge water resources, creating the signature “LNG Diamond Water,” a symbol of harmony between industry and nature. During the event, the Executive Director of Xingang Cooperative shared insights and led a guided tour, showcasing how Yongan integrates local resources for sustainable development. Participants also enjoyed a hands-on workshop on fishnet weaving and reuse, deepening their understanding of sustainability, coastal ecology, and fishing village culture.
